Daddy Loves Acid

Rokk
Presents .. Bags Of Acid

Flicking through my record collection in the basement of my mate's house, im stepping back in time. Each record presents a memory, a smile, a drunken moment, a particulary debauched party and almost always a tear. Realising that i have little space to put any of my records, ive decided to transfer all to a Digital vault, im gonna sell them once digitised but keep some of the sleeves.

All this tripping down memorys lane inspired me to create a mix. Reaching through the past i decided to compile some of my favourite Hip House, Acid and original House tracks. From Wee Papa Girl Rappers to Monie Love and back to S'express. Over 2 days i chose tracks and came up with 'Bags Of Acid'. A compilation of some of the choons in my personal Boombox. ha...

So, here it is ... Bags Of Acid. Download via Zshare here with Tracklisting below. Rokk out!!! ")

JOINERS ARMS R.I.P.?

The Joiners Arms on Hackney Road has always felt wrong so why does it feel 'so right?
I-d recently tokened it the 'Studio 54' of London. High praise indeed, hmmm? Thanks I-d you may have jus killed it. Its popularity as a late night drinking den has increased over the past few months. No longer can you get in on a Friday and Saturday night with ease of a slippery east end eel. Instead we form a queue and wait 20mins to get in. I mean its always been a busy place but WHOA NELLY..... Rumours of the establishment now wanting to charge £5 on the door are a sure fire reason, that its days are numbered. The Joiners has always had a reputation for the cheese and sleaze. One of the few homo haunts open till 2am and on a sunday evening its a fine place to bring in the new week. Enjoy it while it lasts, its like the Last Days Of Disco.....

Snow Man

So, London grinds to a halt under 25cm of Snow... Trains are cancelled and Buses skid off the roads. The phone lines were jammed this morning due to the amount of joyous employees informing their employers, that they were NOT going be into work today. Some finding that their Employers hadnt even made it in to recieve the calls.
Philip Schofield was absent from 'This Morning' leaving Fern to run the show and make Tea for Lily Allen who had been drafted in from GMTV because their guests hadnt turned up. Lily then managed to drivel on about her new single with a painstaking ease. Zoneing out i contemplated taking out Basil (the Irish terrier i live with) for a walk on the Common.
Here's what happened.

BACK THE KNIFE

Like all good artists, The Knife have taken a breather.... a well earned break from ravishing our
necks and feeding our over pumped veins. Karen, however dont wanna stop so she's back under a new guise called 'Fever Ray'. Complete with a remix from Fuck Buttons , 'If I Had A Heart' is simmering on the verge of a relentless ocean which is about to swamp our speaker systems. If ya wanna really get freaked out then watch the video to accompany the song.

Listen here: If You dare....

Fever Ray 'If I Had A Heart'

The album gets a release in March throughout Europe.
Hold on tight!

Night Bus

It was on the Night Bus back home to Streatham that this particular bootleg came to life. I was listening to Modeselektors 'The Dark Side Of the Sun' on my pod at the back of the bus when 2 girls sat but 2 seats away from me. Lashed from the nights excess they proceeded to sing Beyonces 'Single Ladies' nearly all the way home, quite well i might add. Complete with dance moves while sat down, it was a sight that made me smile from ear to ear and is part of those special moments you get on the night bus. One of the better experiences ive had at least.
Drunk students, 'Out of their tiny mind' clubbers, still gurning from the club and homeless guys cadging a lift, to anywhere (Who can blame them?) are the usual sights.

It was around 4am that i got on the bus. 30 minutes had passed and i was in Brixton wishing that the bus could go into Super Speed, jus so as i could get me home that little bit quicker. To be tucked up in bed woulda been nice too but that wasnt gonna happen.

The girls kept on singing and shuffling in their seats, as the track i was listening to kept in a loose rhythm as the girls sang. It was like they were singing along to the track on my phones. Ping! went my over tired brain. I got home 15 mins later and started work on trying to produce the bootleg i had heard earlier. I got the Beyonce accapella and fiddled some knobs.

Et voila! The Dark Side Of Single Ladies' was born......
